Bringing stories on humanitarian crisis to the Danish society
As Communications Director, you will be responsible for all external communication in MSF Denmark including press activities. You take pride in delivering high quality communication within the organization as well as to the media and any other actors.
Doing so, you are the watch dog when it comes to ensuring compliance with MSF guidelines on external communication and our brand. In return, you have a job with 100% humanitarian meaning that brings a dynamic and varied working day.
Responsibilities at home and internationally
As Communications Director, it is your responsibility to develop the MSF Denmark communications strategy, in close cooperation with the other departments, as well as to propose the plan and budget for all communications activities.
A strong team of 3 enthusiastic employees report directly to you, and you will lead them with a focus on high quality delivery and innovation, while ensuring appropriate follow-up and learning. Your team is on call 24/7 for any media reactions that MSF should react on.
In MSF Denmark, we are working on creating even stronger collaboration and increase of synergies between different areas of expertise like communication, advocacy, fundraising and HR.
Therefore, it is a must that you have a strong understanding of the interdependencies between these areas and you are committed to engage and facilitate a continuous cross departmental cooperation.
At the international level, you follow communications issues within the MSF movement by actively participating in international dialogue and contribute with MSF Denmark input. You will also be part of the international MSF Communications networks and contribute extensively to the Nordic group.
You report to the General Director and as a member of the Management Team you share the responsibility to contribute to the budget and the overall strategic development of MSF Denmark.
People skills and integrity
People management is a central part of the job, and we therefore expect you to be a team player with excellent communication and people skills and you contribute to a trustful working environment. You are an experienced manager with high integrity and have an empathetic and modern approach to leadership. You are driven by results, quality and a clear strategic vision.
You are committed to the MSF humanitarian principles and values. You thrive in an international and multicultural environment, and you are fluent in English and Danish; and French is an asset.
A communications expert with managerial competencies
You have excellent knowledge of the Danish media and political arena as well as extensive experience with management and strategy. You have an academic degree in communication or similar. Furthermore, you thrive with creating new relations and have great networking competencies.
You have documented experience with successful communications initiatives, both digital and analogue, understanding the importance of being innovative and creative in a constant changing landscape.
You support wholeheartedly the humanitarian work which when necessary requires courage to speak out on behalf of our patients.
